WRGW GETS $10K FROM HOUSING! November 24th, 1986: WRGW revealed that the GW Office of Housing and Residence Life is the station's mystery benefactor, who agreed to purchase transmitters for the station and place them in the residence halls. With the new transmitters, WRGW can send their signal through the electrical systems in the dorms, allowing students to pick up the programming on any radio. "I sincerely believe WRGW will be a benefit to students in the halls," Housing Director Ann Webster stated. Live programming, which has been produced from WRGW since April, will be up in the halls in about 6-8 weeks, according to Managing Director James Snyder. WRGW hopes to expand from the initial 7 halls to all halls on campus based on the success of the programming and student response. "There's a good chance to get on the air in the second week of January," Snyder said. ~Investigated by WRGW staff comprised from the GW Hatchet's Archives |
