FIRST ROAD BASKETBALL GAME ON GW'S AIRWAVES! March 9th, 1948: The Radio Workshop at GW brought the play by play of the first out of town broadcast for the station with the coverage of the Duke-George Washington basketball game. Broadcast exclusively in Washington to over 200 students and listeners in the Student Club building on campus, the hard work of the students of WGW and Athletics Association paid off as GW took on local rival Duke. The station had moved recently from the temporary studio in the basement of the Library. WGW was moved to a new studio in Studio C of Lisner Auditorium. The station will broadcast from that location to the Student Club from 12:10 to 12:55 pm daily. ~Investigated by WRGW staff comprised from the GW Hatchet's Archives |
