RADIO CLUB BUYS NEW TRANSFORMER
April 30th, 1930: The radio club, predecessor of what is now WRGW, purchased their first transformer from the Potomac Electric Power Co. The piece of equipment had a 1000-watt capacity and allowed the club to assure a high level of power would travel to the transmitter, giving the station a steady and clear signal.
Testing didn't go off without a hitch, as many station members were shocked while testing the new equipment, but they continued undaunted. This is merely one more example of how WRGW has continued to strive to be at the forefront of radio technology through the years.
