FRESHMAN BLOCK PARTY IS BACK!!

April 6th, 2002: Modeled after the tradition of the Thurston Block Party, the music festival and all around good time, made its way back on campus after a two-year hiatus.  In April of 2000, the Thurston Block Party was cancelled due to the first large-scale protests of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank.  However, WRGW along with the Residence Hall Association, Student Association and Program Board, brought the event to a new location at University Yard and gave it a new name, Freshman Block Party.

With WRGW in charge of the concert aspect of the show, local and student bands performed throughout the day and braved abnormal April temperatures.
The weather was overcast throughout the day but struggled to reach 50 degrees.  UXB, Monty's Fan Club and student band, Last Week opened for the headliner, Strangefolk.  Over 1000 students attended the show as WRGW put on their 2nd large-scale concert of the year following the success of the 2nd annual Octoberfest.
