Akron vs Bowie
by Steven Smith

BOWIE-- After posting 7 runs in Saturday's victory, the Aeros pick up right where they left off pounding 11 runs off Baysox pitching, en route to an 11-3 victory over Bowie on Sunday.

The Aeros, who were paced by 5 first inning runs on Saturday, spaced out their scoring on Sunday, scoring in 7 consecutive innings. The Aeros also pounded out 12 hits, 8 of which went for extra-base hits.

Baysox starter Brian Forystek retired the first 7 Aeros in order but then trouble arose later in the 3rd inning. After Javier Herrera singled, and Ivan Ochoa reached due to Tripper Johnson's error, Eider Torres belted a 2 run double to tie the game 2-2. Forystek battled back to get Youngbauer and Morban to end the inning. In the Aeros' 4th, they scored 3 more runs capped off by a Jonathan Van Every 2-run home run to right center field, Van Every's 8th home run of the season. Through 3½, the Aeros led 5-2. Jose Morban crushed his 5th home run of the year off of Forystek in the 5th inning to put Akron up 6-2. After that half inning, Forystek was done. He went 5 innings, allowing 9 hits, 6 runs, 5 earned runs, 0 walks and 7 strikeouts.

Chris Piersoll, who was called up from A Frederick on Saturday, made his second appearance in as many days. After a successful debut Saturday, Piersoll struggled Sunday. In the 6th, he surrendered a 2-run home run to Pat Osborn and in the 7th, Jason Cooper tagged him for an RBI double. Ryan Keefer and Sendy Rleal each came on after that and surrendered one earned run each in the 8th and 9th respectively.

As for the Baysox offense, there wasn't much as starter J.D. Martin went 3.1 IP allowing 2 runs, and Kyle Evans came on in relief pitching 3.2 innings of 1-run ball to pick the victory. Offensively, all the Baysox got were RBI doubles by Joey Hammond and Woody Cliffords in the 1st inning that staked them to an early 2-0 lead. Then in the 7th, Morgan Clendenin continued his hot hitting by belting a solo shot to right, his third of the year.

The Baysox have surrendered 18 runs in 2 days, and will look to Cory Morris on Memorial Day to slow Akron down offensively, and salvage a split with the Aeros in this 4-game series. All the action will start at 12:50 PM on WRGW, the Baysox Radio Network, with a first pitch scheduled for 1:05 PM.
