Stahl and Company Dominate, Sweep Phillies
by Steven Smith

BOWIE, Md.--Richard Stahl, Ryan Keefer, Sendy Rleal, and Chris Ray combine their efforts for a 4 hit shutout of the Reading Phillies on Thursday, making a leadoff home run from Peter Bergeron stand up as the Baysox sweep the Phils, 1-0.

Stahl went the first four innings, allowing only 2 hits and 4 walks before being pulled. Ryan Keefer came on and went 3 solid innings in relief to pick up the victory and go to 3-1 on the season. Sendy Rleal got the first 2 outs of the 8th and then Chris Ray came on to record his 13th save of the season, shutting Reading over 1.1 IP.

Seung-Hak Lee, the Phillies starter, pitched rather successfully on his 26th birthday, allowing only 1 run on 3 hits over 7 innings. The only run he allowed was Peter Begeron’s second home run of the year that made just fair and just over the wall in left. However, he did pick up the loss, running his record to 2-1, with all 3 decisions coming against Bowie this season.

The Baysox finish their 7-game homestand with a 4-3 record, running their overall record to 27 up and 26 down. The Phillies have now lost 11 of their last 13 games. The Baysox will be on the road tomorrow as they begin a 3-game series with the Eastern League Southern Division leading Akron Aeros. Jake Dittler will start for Akron in opposition to Brian Forystek for your Baysox.

NOTE: Hayden Penn Made his 2nd career Major League start on Thursday. Penn pitched at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox. Penn received a no-decision, his second in as many starts. His final line was 5.1 IP, 4 hits, 3 runs (all earned), 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. The Red Sox would defeat the Orioles on David Ortiz’s walk off HR in the 9th, 6-4, as the teams split the 4 game series.
