There are some big names coming up in Week 7 as more teams go on their bye week. Here are some players that you can pick up to plug some holes on your team.
Quarterback
Taysom Hill (NO, 4.8%)
Hear me out here. Flexing Taysom Hill into the QB spot this week is much more of a necessity than a luxury. This season has not been the best for fantasy QB play, and at this point, the QBs that are still on waivers face hard matchups or have had tough outings recently. Taysom Hill, however, is eligible as a QB in many platforms and last week, he commanded the most targets on a loaded Saints offense. If this is how Carr chooses his targets going forward, Hill can have a solidly high floor compared to many other QBs on the wire like Daniel Jones or Desmond Ridder, who are week to week bust risks.
Sam Howell (WAS, 19.1%)
With three touchdowns, Sam Howell was a great pick last week against the Falcons, and next week against the Giants he might be an even better pick. The Giants secondary played a pretty good game against the Bills last week, but don’t expect that to be the norm going forward. Other than last week, the Giants have been free food for any offense, even giving up 28 points to the bottom feeding Cardinals. The surprisingly potent Commanders offense will probably give them the work next week.
Running back
Kareem Hunt (CLE, 26.8%)
Like many other picks this week, Hunt isn’t the most glamorous pickup for your team. Last week, the vet demonstrated that he may still have some fantasy value playing behind lead back Jerome Ford. He had 12 carries and a touchdown last week, and it seems as if he is still the choice receiving back for the Browns.
Wide receiver
K.J. Osborn (MIN, 67.1%)
It looked as if Jordan Addison would be the de facto WR1 in Minnesota in the absence of Justin Jefferson, but last week, Osborn drew just as many targets as Addison and converted them for more yards. It seems that the Vikings are leaning on their veteran WR to make plays as Justin Jefferson recovers.
Josh Downs (IND, 32.7%)
Downs is shaping up to be an excellent receiver in his rookie season. Though he didn’t have the most efficient game last week, he drew a ton of targets from Gardner Minshew. The loss of Anthony Richardson doesn’t impact the Colts passing game that much, as Minshew is the best backup QB in the league. As the Colts face some suspect defenses in upcoming weeks, Downs is a good pickup.
Tight end
Jonnu Smith (ATL, 14.8%)
Jonnu Smith is the TE9 of the season, even as he plays behind Kyle Pitts. Though it seems as if Arthur Smith is waking up a bit and incorporating Pitts and London into the offense, Jonnu Smith still had a great game last week, hauling in a touchdown. The Falcons play against a young Bucs defense next week in a division matchup, and this is a must win game for the Falcons who are hanging on in the NFC South.
