Anderson .Paak @ Merriweather Post Pavilion 10/9

Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals will be headlining Merriweather Post Pavilion on October 9, beginning to close out the highly anticipated The Malibu Tour playing this classic critically acclaimed album in its entirety. 

Malibu features well-known hits like funky, retro-upbeat “Come Down” and jazzy, soulful “Heart Don’t Stand A Chance,” as well as several celebrated collaborations like the bouncy feel-good “Am I Wrong” with experimental rapper ScHoolboy Q and the rich, smooth “The Waters” with BJ the Chicago Kid.

Anderson Paak has been long lauded for his contributions and innovations in hip-hop, R&B, and jazz, coalesced into several genre-fluid albums – Malibu, released in 2016, is especially renowned for its production and vintage sound. ATARASHII GAKKO! @ The Anthem 10/11

Japanese girl group ATARASHII GAKKO! will officially be back in D.C. after a year for the second part of their world tour at The Anthem. The group debuted in 2017, gaining attention for their quirky mannerisms and commitment to breaking out of the classic J-Pop mold. With influences ranging from jazz, dance, punk, and traditional Japanese, the group always has something exciting to show their fans. Their most recent album, AG! Calling, is in collaboration with American record label 88rising. It fuses traditional sounds with edm, rap, and ATARASHII GAKKO!’s signature dances. The quartet is sure to impress for a second time on October 11th.

Alfie Templeman @ The Atlantis 10/11

English singer-songwriter Alfie Templeman’s Radiosoul tour kicks off in Washington, DC on October 11 at The Atlantis. While he’s been firmly placed within the indie-pop genre since the beginning of his career in 2018, Templeman’s newest album draws from some of his more classic, personal influences, such as Rush and Chuck Berry. Templeman states that Radiosoul encompasses a sound that feels more authentic to him, a technicolored end product of relentless collaboration and experimentation in a quest to find his sound. Templeman took time on this record to explore the unconventional aspects of his sound, creating many pockets of odd and wonderful moments throughout the work. He refers to this period in his career as “shapeshifting”, and there’s no telling what’s to come.

Bob the Drag Queen @ Lincoln Theatre 10/11

Bob the Drag Queen, the winner of Season 8 of Rupaul’s Drag Race, has become one of the franchise’s most charismatic queens. She’s best known for her sharp wit and infectious humor. Bob continues to entertain fans by hosting seasons of The Pit Stop, a popular Drag Race recap show, and through her podcast Sibling Rivalry, co-hosted with her drag sister, Monét X Change. 

In the past year, Bob has made another impressive achievement by joining pop icon Madonna on her global tour, where she once again showcased her comedic talent. Bob is now on her This is Wild tour, where she showcases a wide range of talents beyond comedy, particularly through her musical performances. Her seamless blend of humor, music, and stage presence continues to elevate her, cementing her reputation as a dynamic drag entertainer.

Cuco @ The Anthem 10/12

Stemming from Hawthorne, California, singer and songwriter Cuco is arriving at the Anthem in DC. An indie star, Cuco creates music ranging from upbeat to dreamy while singing in a blend of Spanish and English. His hit song, “Lover is a Day” came off his debut album wannabewithu, a lullabying beat that launched him into fame. Fantasy Gateway is his most recent album and is a hallmark of Cuco’s style. Even if you haven’t heard of Cuco before, he has probably collaborated with some of your favorite artists like Clairo, Kacey Musgraves, Bratty, The Marias, L’Impératrice, and more.
