CONCERT PREVIEW: The Jins @DC9, 10/12

By: Cameron Johnson

Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, the Jins are a 90s inspired grunge rock band that took off in 2014. Their sound is reminiscent of some of the most popular bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, and The Strokes. Their most popular song “She Said” has over 13,000,000 plays on Spotify, and for good reason. The Jins manage to intertwine the nostalgia of 90s grunge with a modern twist on the ballads we fondly remember from that time. Their most recent album, It’s a Life, was released in 2023 and is now their main focus as they tour the US.

TikTok has been a sailing platform for the trio, amounting over 300,000 followers in a short period of time. The lead singer, Ben, jokes how he was known as the “reincarnated Kurt Cobain” on the TikTok due to his scarily similar looks to the legend. They embrace their fame on social media saying that “if its gonna help someone in some way and we’re able to reach people, even if it’s through this really shameless thing on TikTok, I don’t care. That’s my takeaway.”

The group is on tour now and you can catch them live in DC, October 12th at DC9!
