Berlin-based, Cape Town-native Alice Phoebe Lou is bringing her dreamy, folk, indie guitar and vocals to an early show at D.C.’s 9:30 Club. Her latest effort, 2023’s Shelter, is an album about recognizing growth and change, something the now 30-year-old musician understands and appreciates. Shelter is her fifth studio album, and alongside her EPs and a fantastic live record, Lou has more than enough material to pull together a headlining set that spans her almost decade-long career. If you’re not hip, start digging in with Child’s Play and Paper Castles (and when you’re ready, run through Live at the Funkhaus).
