Free Throw and Prince Daddy & The Hyena are on an epic emo co-headlining tour across the country. Stopping at the Black Cat on Wednesday, November 1, the bands will be supported by Charmer and saturdays at your place.
Both headliners have exciting new releases they’re promoting on this tour. Hot off of playing Riot Fest last month, Free Throw released their fifth album, Lessons That We Swear to Keep two weeks ago. They are sure to play punkier highlights like “A Part is Better Than Zero” and “Thanks For Asking” next week.
PDaddy have been busy too- by the time they hit the Black Cat they’ll have done a two week tour with The Menzingers, a week-long stint in Japan, an appearance on the Coheed and Cambria S.S. Neverender cruise, and a set at Fest 21 in Florida all in the past three months. Gluttons for punishment, the band is doomed to promote their self-titled third album until they put out another record or die on the road. Prince Daddy & The Hyena released in April to fairly high critic praise. Wearing their influences on their sleeves, the record is full of 90s alt worship but keeps their uniquely raucous and spastic approach to emo intact, mixing in the occasional heartfelt ballad (“Curly Q”) and jumping dance beat (“Keep Up That Talk”) for flavor.
Charmer, the tour’s main support, and saturdays at your place, the opener for this leg, have also both had 2023 releases. Charmer, best known for their 2018 self titled second record, dropped Seney Stretch in February while SAYP put out always cloudy in January and a new single “pourover” this month.`
The show is sure to be a ripper and there are still tickets for sale. If you want to get real nasty in a pit to some of the best new emo grab tickets for Wednesday 11/1 here.
