CONCERT PREVIEW: Movements @ 9:30 Club 9/26

By Kendall Larade

Southern California quartet Movements blends emo, punk and post-hardcore rock elements. After playing only a single show, the band signed a multi-record deal with indie label Fearless Records. Following their 2016 EP Outgrown Things, the group established their direct and confessional songwriting style on their 2017 full-length debut, Feel Something. The album tackles difficult subjects such as relationships, mental health, and dementia. Their most recent release is noticeably more upbeat. RUCKUS! uses brighter tones and livelier rhythms to expand upon the themes explored in their sophomore album No Good Left To Give. The energetic single “Fail You” from RUCKUS! is sure to become an alternative rock anthem.

Movements are supporting the album on tour with Mannequin Pussy, Softcult, and Heart to Gold. Mannequin Pussy released a new single “I Got Heaven” in August of 2023. “I Got Heaven” embodies the same controlled volatility that made the band’s 2016 album, Romantic, a punk staple. Movements and Mannequin Pussy will be performing at 9:30 Club on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
