Everybody Asked About You is headlining at The Atlantis on April 17th at 7 PM. Their music can be classified as Midwest emo and 90s indie rock, as they originated in Arkansas in the emo and punk music scene in the 90s. They have since gotten their band back together to remaster and reissue their catalog. Their music reflects the intense feelings of a teenager experiencing the emotions of adulthood for the first time. Themes such as self-growth, first love, and the overall feeling of nostalgia for teenhood and getting older are common in their music.
Birthday Girl DC is a local indie punk rock band that started playing in local venues and will be opening for Everybody Asked About You. Birthday Girl DC’s EP “Dirtier” tells the story of a poem written by the singer, May, when she was fifteen, labeled “ Dirty Girl Roams Through the Woods.” They will play songs from their “Dirtier” EP and their debut album Birthday Girl. I was introduced to this band from Carolina Carmo’s interview, you can read about them here.
