SENIOR FAREWELL: Abi Ingoglia

By Abi Ingoglia

Joining WRGW was a happy accident. As every freshman at GW does, I attended the Fall Org Fair in 2019. Walking through the maze of tables in the Smith Center I stumbled upon a Public Health Org that seemed really interesting! I don’t remember the exact club name but I decided to sign up.

That night my email inbox began to receive emails from the clubs I signed up for but I never received one from this org. Instead, I received an email from WRGW District Radio. I didn’t even remember chatting with anyone or seeing their table. I read the email and was excited that this stumbled into my inbox.

An accidental sign-up led me to eventually intern. When I first interned at WRGW, my host, who was a senior at the time, was someone I truly looked up to. She had it together with a post-grad job, a WRGW Executive Board (E-board) position and just carried herself with so much confidence. One day, I hoped to finish my college experience in the same place.

Here we are, halfway through my last semester and finishing up my term as General Manager, and I am still putting the pieces together. The growth from Intern to Personnel Director to Station Manager to General Manager has truly shaped me for the journey I will take on after graduation. The process of still figuring it all out is tough but I would not be able to do it without the support system I have found through WRGW.

I have poured my life out onto those old leather and green couches. There are so many wonderful people and experiences that have been vital to shaping who I am today. I have to deeply thank the WRGW E-board for uplifting me and putting trust in my leadership skills through the many challenges we have faced this semester. We wouldn’t be such an inclusive and amazing org without your help. There are a few people that I wanted to specifically thank:

Bryn Taylor: My angel and right-hand man!!! I am so proud of you for taking on the role of General Manager. You are and will continue to be an amazing leader. You inspire me to stand my ground, be confident and lead with humor. You keep me smiling and I will miss not seeing you every day.

Grace Quackenbush: Grace, you are going to be a shining Station Manager. I am so excited to see how you grow in this role and know you will lead the station with grace. I am so proud of you and I know you will do amazing things.

Emma Westcott: Hi twin. I am so grateful for your true friendship. Your honesty and humor have taught me so much and allowed me to grow more than I thought I would this year. You taught me how to stand up for myself and know my worth. I am so excited for us to move into this new chapter of our lives and that we will both be in D.C.!

Jules Russo: Jules, your kindness will take you so far. You are such a friendly, warm and welcoming person. You are one of my first friends in WRGW and I don’t think I would be in any position I am now without your kind words and never-ending support.

Maxine Fuselier: You silly girl!!! I am so grateful that you were on board this year because it brought us so much closer. You keep me smiling. I am so excited to see the adventures you go on and spend the summer together.

Anusha Tandon: My coquette queen, my Twitter icon. I am going to miss your energy and humor. Our banter and silliness kept things super lighthearted and allowed me to not take things so seriously.

Max Cohen: Max you inspire me to dream big. I am going to miss your wit, energy and passion. You showed me no dream is too small or unattainable. I can’t wait to see where you go and I am so proud of you!

Kendall Larade: Kendall!!! How grateful I am to have met you this year. You are going to have such a successful four years with WRGW and SMC. I see such ambition and drive in you and I can’t wait for you to have the opportunity to take on more with WRGW. WRGW is in good hands with you as a leader.

Parker Phillips: My amazing roomie. This year has been such a whirlwind and you have been such an amazing support system. I love our late-night chats, rug time and double dates. You are so silly yet logical and that is such a balance that I wish to emulate. You have helped me reach my goals this year and I am so grateful for you. I can’t wait to be basically neighbors in this next chapter of our lives.

Ben Zack: Ben, you have been the best person to take on college with. I am so grateful for your advice, comfort and drive. You have helped me develop into the person I am today. I am so grateful for your encouragement in my passions and undying love. I see how hard you have worked the past four years and am beyond proud of you and your incredible achievements.
