I joined radio right as I was ending my college career. My friend Max Cohen runs the “Band Aid Hour” (healing alternative music!) and, as part of his program, invited me to the show one Thursday. This changed my life, which I say only slightly hyperbolically. Playing music I loved? Talking into a giant mic? Joking with my friends? What more could one want from life! When I told Max how much fun I had, he encouraged me to join — even though I was a senior, even though I couldn’t technically be more than an intern. After considering it for a bit, I submitted my application — and I am so incredibly glad that I did.
Though my time with radio has been short, that doesn’t make it any less meaningful. I’ve met so many incredible, funny, kind people that have enhanced my life in ways I can’t fully enumerate in a small reflection like this. If you’re reading this, even if we’ve never met: thank you. The radio community has brought me so much joy and made me feel so welcome and accepted. Long live WRGW! B)
