Week 8 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire

By Nan Jiang

After some surprising performances last week, the NFL is gearing up for a pretty important week 8. Here are some players to look out for on the wire.

Quarterback

Taysom Hill (NO, 5.6%)

For the second week in a row, Taysom Hill is a top streaming option at QB. His competition, players like Daniel Jones and Sam Howell, are iffy at best, but Hill’s goal line presence for the Saints continues to give him a high enough floor to justify starting him over boom or bust QBs that plague the wire right now.

Gardner Minshew (IND, 3.6%)

Minshew played a very Minshew game last Sunday, with a total of four touchdowns, two of them rushing. Despite his performance the week before, Minshew just reaffirmed his status as one of the best backups in the NFL, and with Anthony Richardson out for the season, Minshew will get to shine week after week. Minshew has thrown 300 or more yards in his last two games, and he faces easier defenses in New Orleans and Carolina for his next two games.

Running back

Darrell Henderson Jr. (LAR, 12.1%)

The Rams surprisingly put Kyren Williams on IR, and with a successful reunion with Henderson, managers can expect him to be the lead back until Williams comes back from injury. Sure, the Rams face a hard defense next weekend, but Henderson got a surprising amount of carries last game, and if the trend continues, he should have another good game against the Cowboys.

D’Onta Foreman (CHI, 48.7%)

Foreman is already rostered in a lot of leagues, but if he isn’t in yours, now is as good a time as ever to scoop him up. The Tyler Bagent-led Bears have a much different gameplan than the Justin Fields-led Bears, and one of those differences is the use of D’Onta Foreman. He only got five carries before Justin Fields went down, but ever since, he has gotten 31 combined carries in two games. Last week, he turned his 16 carries into 89 yards and a score, and next week against the Chargers he should be able to keep putting up numbers against a mediocre defense.

Wide receiver

Rashee Rice (KC, 48.6%)

Who is the WR1 in KC? Rashee Rice is a genuinely solid answer. The rookie has improved dramatically over the past few weeks, and with that, seemingly more targets and production. He put up his best game of the season last week, and next week, against the worst defense in the league, he should be able to do the same. Oh yeah, having the best quarterback in the league on your team helps too.

Josh Downs (IND, 34.5%)

At this point, Josh Downs is a must grab. He has lit up fantasy for the last few weeks, especially with Minshew at the helm. At his best he has commanded 12 targets and seems to be the WR1 in Indy over Pittman. The rookie has great potential, and it’s exciting to see the Colts using his talents this early on in his career, and he is also just a solid fantasy piece to have. Not to mention, the Colts have some suspect matchups coming up with New Orleans and New England.

Tight end

Taysom Hill (NO, 5.6%)

Yes, Taysom Hill will make the list twice. His two positions are both extremely valuable at this point in the season. Just like the QB position, TEs are prone to busting on any given week, and Hill’s work in receiving, passing, and running the ball gives him a high floor, plus his goal line work makes him a boom contender. He plays the Indy defense next week, which isn’t super hard to deal with, and with Kamara struggling in the red zone, the Saints will continue to look to Hill for TDs.
