Palaye Royale @ 9:30 Club 10/15

By: Leila McKiernan

Palaye Royale has set off on their Death or Glory tour across the United States. The band first gained recognition for their 2016 glam rock album Boom Boom Boom, embarking on the last ever Vans Warped Tour with hit singles like Mr. Doctor Man and Ma Cherie. With their newest release Death or Glory, Palaye Royale nods to the baroque style of seminal emo albums that came before them, namely A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out by Panic! At the Disco. Remington Leith’s raspy vocals have been a trademark of the group since their first EP, Morning Light, and he fully leans into his vocal quirks throughout new songs like Dark Side of the Silver Spoon and Addicted to the Wicked & Twisted. Featuring opening performers like I See Stars, Weather, and Diamante, the Death or Glory tour serves as a reminder of the emo foundation Palaye Royale was formed on, and simultaneously ushers in an era of cabaret style hits for both veteran fans and newcomers.

Air @ The Anthem 10/18

By: Vincent Karam

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of their prolific debut album, Moon Safari, French band Air will perform at The Anthem on Oct. 18. Air, the project of Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoit Dunkcel, is an outlier in the French Touch and 90s electronic scene. The blend of textured synths, driving basslines, and ethereal vocals, create an experimental atmosphere that made albums like Moon Safari instant classics. Following their performance at the Olympic closing ceremony in Paris this Summer, alongside other French bands like Phoenix, there is no better time to see Moon Safari in its entirety.
