The Colonials return to Foggy Bottom for their Atlantic 10 home opener fresh off a nail-biting 69-66 win over preseason conference favorite Dayton on Sunday afternoon.

Behind Jonquel Jones‘ fourth double-double in five games (24 points, 17 rebounds), GW ended the Flyers’ 31-game home winning streak, the longest in the nation, and announced their presence as the conference’s early season front-runner with authority. Caira Washington also added 23 points in the win, marking her second straight game with 20 points or more. The Colonials have now won 10 games in a row and, at 12-2, have matched the best start in school history.

St. Joe’s will not be content to sit back and let GW run through them on Wednesday night, especially after the way their season ended last year at the hands of the Colonials in the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament. The front court will, once again, be the main battleground as the Hawks are led by forward Sarah Fairbanks, a Preseason All-A10 Third Team selection who scored 15 points in St. Joe’s last game, a 63-46 home win over VCU. Natasha Cloud is also poised to wreak havoc in the back court. The reigning A10 Defensive Player of the Year finished with 10 points and 10 assists against the Rams last Saturday.

WRGW’s coverage with Raynell Cooper (broadcasting his final game as a GW student) and Mike Martenak begins at 6:45 with tip off scheduled for 7 pm on gwradio.com.
