D.C. native and Grammy-nominated rapper Shy Glizzy, will perform at Howard Theatre on Feb. 17 for a special hometown show. The performance will commemorate the tenth anniversary of his projects Young Jefe and Law 3. He’s known for his authentic depiction of D.C. urban life, blending melodic hooks with lyricism and a distinctive flow.
Growing up in Fort Dupont Circle in Southeast, Glizzy’s career began in his early teens by freestyling with friends and recording in makeshift home studios. His raw talent garnered him immediate attention. However, it wasn’t until his 2014 mixtape Law 3 and its breakout single “Awwsome” that catapulted him into the national spotlight. The track became a staple feel-good party anthem, earning critical acclaim and sanctifying Glizzy’s position as one of the most promising talents emerging from the DMV area. He continues to reign as a local hero in D.C. and shows love to his city through his lyrics and community outreach.
The show is one night only and will feature throwback staples from his early discography. Find tickets here.
