CONCERT REVIEW: Phoebe Bridgers @ Capital One Arena, 09/29/26

The Phoebe Bridgers concert at the Capital One Arena on September 29th was the embodiment of her lyric “cried at your show with the teenagers.” One woman with an angel’s voice brought an entire arena to tears with songs so devastatingly beautiful that they transformed the concert into an incredibly emotional display of music, yet I have no proof this night was even real.

Turnstile has been all the talk in the alternative scene lately. From Charli XCX declaring the summer of 2025 “Turnstile Summer,” to Tiny Desk stage dives, to Taco Bell ads, to attempted homicide against your ex-bandmate’s father (looking at you, Brady Ebert…), it seems that everywhere you turn, Turnstile is there. But how did Turnstile go from DIY teenagers in their local Maryland scene to world-touring, Grammy-winning punk legends?

CONCERT REVIEW: Mustafa @ Lincoln Theater, 4/24/25

Beneath the intricate chandeliers of Lincoln Theater in DC’s famous U Street corridor, Mustafa’s simply decorated stage featured only spare guitars and ouds. Greeted by a black screen with white text that read Dunya in Arabic script, the audience gradually streamed into their seats as it drew closer to eight. Many attendees draped their keffiyehs over their shoulders or sported clothing in support of the people of Gaza and Sudan, for whom the Canadian-Sudanese artist has consistently advocated for amidst the ongoing genocides.

CONCERT REVIEW: Big Thief @ The Anthem, 10/24

Standing on stage and gazing at the packed venue halfway through the set, Adrienne Lenker told us that she was sending us “all the love in her heart,” and that she “could feel all the love in the room.” I honestly believe her. Not one person in the crowd around me wasn’t grinning and staring at the stage with complete adoration in their eyes, myself included.
