PREVIEW: Liberation Weekend @ Black Cat, 4/24-26

By Sarah Wren Robinson

Liberation Weekend returns to D.C. for its second year, transforming the Black Cat into a three-day celebration of music, community, and resistance from April 24-26. Hosted by Rayceen Pendarvis, the festival brings together a mix of local and national artists across punk, indie, and experimental scenes.

More than a lineup, Liberation Weekend is a fundraiser supporting trans-rights organizations, Gender Liberation movement and No More Dysphoria, channeling live music into direct community impact. With daytime showcases and afterparties extending the experience at Transmission, the weekend emphasizes both artistic expression and collective energy.

Following its debut as a DIY, community-driven festival, Liberation Weekend continues to grow as a space where music and activism meet.
